Choosing the Best Tea Brands

This selection of the best tea brands includes a variety of options that should please anyone’s taste buds. But, everyone has their own preferences. When choosing from brands that you have never tried, there are several considerations to keep in mind:

  • How often you drink tea
  • The flavors that you enjoy
  • Tea bags or loose leaves

If you consume several cups of tea each day, then you may want to start with the more economical brands. Reserve a few luxury brands for special occasions.

You should also think about the flavors that you prefer. The most popular options include white, green, black, and Ceylon.

For new tea drinkers, such as teens, white tea may be the best introduction. The bitterness of the darker teas can take a little while to get used to. White tea tends to have a lighter body and delicate flavor, as the tea leaves are un-oxidized.

Tea leaves for green tea are also unoxidized but tend to have a fuller flavor than white teas. Due to the health benefits of drinking green tea, such as a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease from the antioxidants found in the tea, this is a great choice for health-conscious consumers or older individuals.

Black tea brands tend to contain the most caffeine, a darker body, and can be more bitter than other varieties. For regular coffee drinkers looking for a healthier alternative, black tea offers a good transition.

Ceylon tea is a type of black tea with a strong, full-bodied flavor, with a tangy twist. This tea contains an abundance of polyphenols, which can help rejuvenate the skin and provide protection against sun damage. Another great choice for the healthy-minded tea drinker, Ceylon tea brands could help slow down the signs of aging.

The majority of the best tea brands discussed offer a selection of these tea flavors, including white, green, and black. Ceylon tea is not as common but is sometimes found in blends, such as the varieties offered by Kusmi tea.

Also, consider whether you prefer tea bags or loose leaves. Tea bags are generally quicker to prepare, but some feel that the quality does not match loose leaf tea. Honestly, it all depends on how you brew the tea. Watch this short video on brewing the perfect cup of tea with tea bags for a few pointers:

Have fun testing out these 10 best tea brands. You should consider trying a variety of options until you discover your own personal favorite tea brands.

  2. I am an “American” tea drinker. That is to say, I am usually too busy to employ anything more than pouring boiling water onto a tea bag and letting it steep, dipping it in and out occasionally. Mostly I prefer my tea plain, with a tough of sweetener (sugar-not honey) and only occasionally a little splash of 2{fb6dbafde8b07077c47190f01cc66a00f2a1889c1c1e7dc76005cbe93156625a} Lactose Free milk. So, you see, I am hardly the connoisseur ., But, I know what I like and what I like is Black Tea, preferably from China, but India, Ceylon and other areas can be fine as well. It is only on a rare occasion that I will brew a small pot, taking more time than usual to heat the pot first, and use loose tea rather than bags for a better full flavor, enjoyable long spent time indoors on a cold winter’s day.

Personally, I find it almost laughable the assortment of teas now available in supermarkets and coffee or tea houses. As abstract as I wish to go is a blended black tea. Herbal teas are for others, “therapeutic” teas slay me with their promises to lower blood pressure, adjust one’s metabolism and in general offer a doctor’s appointment in a mug ! That is not to say, I do not believe in the therapeutic values of devoted tea drinkers, people who have more than one cup of tea a day and through other areas in their diets, devote their time of tea drinking to not only refreshment, but also a designed part of a health plan.

“Flavored” teas are for somebody else, in my book, definitely not for me. Hell, I cannot even drink Earl Grey or Lady Grey for it’s added bergamot flavor that really is off putting to me. Give me “English Breakfast”, “Darjeeling”, even a small tea bag sometimes given with Chinese Take Out food orders. My motto is: KISS-as in Keep It Simple, Slurpee !

Perhaps when I am a bit older, (Boy, am I being kind to myself here since I am now 63 years old), my tea making and tea drinking habits will change. But for now, I like to shop, pausing in the tea and coffee aisles to review the latest “inventions” in tea drinking. By the way, I should say, although I am a savvy shopper, I do not like to buy tea bags in lots of more than forty bags per box, since it would take me most of a year to finish the box and need another. I also believe that a box of dried tea in bags, “double wrapped” or plain that just sits higher up in a kitchen cabinet, does not translate to proper “aging” that improves the level of the tea I am about to imbibe. The only thing that might come of drinking tea bag # 93 in a box of one hundred would be the addition of cob webs to my tea mug and drink !

The last think I want to mention is Bubble Tea. Whie hugely popular with younger Asians who frequent a city’s Chinatown area, Bubble Tea is ow gaining some headway into the commercial market, slowly, but it is moving ahead. I cannot even comment on the aesthetic value of tea and tapioca together, but I happen to dig the hell out Bubble Tea if only for the fact that I love tapioca and I love tea….SINGULARLY, so it should be twice as good when put together. It’s gotta be cold though. No steaming tapioca tea for this guy. Just some chewy, flavored “bubbles” in a refreshing tall drink in the summer and I am good to go. And this is a great place to end. I’m good to go !
